Spaniard Xevi Pons is trying to sort a deal to drive a works Subaru S14 WRC on his home round Rally Spain later this year. Subaru managing director Richard Taylor stated, "It could happen but nothing is definite".
Pons drove a third works Subaru in the latter half of last season but found the S12B difficult to drive and suffered a number of crashes. There was speculation he would drive a works Subaru in the latter half of this season but it appears it will only happen on his home event, if at all.
Meanwhile, Xavi is currently contesting the Sata Rally Acores in Portugal driving a Evo9 but rolled out on SS12 whilst in second place. Bruno Magalhes won while Garcia Ojeda retired his new Power Car Team Peugeot 207 on the penultimate stage.
