Phillip Morrow will use a TEG Subaru N12 on the Ulster Rally instead of his own Evo 9
Crash.net have revealed that Phillip Morrow will compete on the Todds Leap Ulster International Rally with the Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team.
Morrow, who was recently axed by the 'works' Mitsubishi UK Rally Team, had been set to use his own Mitsubishi Evo 9, with which he won the 2007 Evo Challenge. However he will now take in the fourth round in the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship in the same Subaru Impreza N12 that Mark Higgins used last year.
Unlike the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo he drove on the first three events in the BRC, the N12 is right-hand drive too and that should suit Morrow, who had struggled to get to grips with a left-hand drive.
Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team boss, Stuart Newby told Crash.net:
I personally think he we will do well on the Ulster. I would like to see him get a strong finish - a good top-five. He has not driven the car before. But I hope he has no dramas and a stress free run. There is a lot of pressure on him at the minute. Obviously I have been talking to one or two people for a while. But Mark Higgins helped sort this. They are good friends and he helped Phillip put together this deal."
Although the agreement has only just been signed and Newby added that certain details - such as the livery have still to be sorted - he is hopeful Morrow will be able to do the Rally Yorkshire and the Wales Rally GB too.
Newby added to Crash.net:
I don't know yet [if the deal is just for the Ulster]. We only found out about half an hour ago that Phillip was definitely going to do the event. I'd like to think it is not a one-off. But we will have to wait and see.
There is still a lot to be decided and at the moment the car is plain white. It has all happened so quickly."
Morrow will now get his first taste of the car next week, when he links up with fellow Atlas TEG Sport Rally Team men Mark Higgins and Wyn Humphreys. Phillip will be in the 'third' car and will be keen to make a point to show Mitsubishi was wrong to drop him.
