Travis Pastrana and Ken Block complete a Rally and Moto X stunt together

Posted by Scott Coursey 25 July, 2008

Travis and Ken perform a recent stunt together for a US magazine. Basically Pastrana performs a back flip on his moto x bike over a mid-air Subaru driven by Block. Both will be in action at next weekend's X Games with a new team-mate for the event, Niall McShea, who will be making his first appearance at the games.

RallyBuzz wishes Nathan and Brandye Conley a speedy and full recovery from their injuries received in a horrific crash at Pikes Peak Hillclimb in the last week.

The new livery was meant to be debuted at the X Games Rally but may be on display as a show of support from the Conley's for the games

Lucky to be alive, Nathan Conley can't help feel barred from his X Games dream.

Nathan Conley called earlier tonight and gave a run down on Brandye and his accident at Pikes Peak. He forwarded an email account of what had happened and what is happening.

From Nathan:
Here is an explanation of what happened and an update on how we are doing. Brandye still wants to try and make it out to the X Games to support our sport. You just can't keep her away and we would love it if there is a possibility to put the car on display on the Home Depot floor to show off the car since we put so much time and hard work into it. We won't decide if we are going to X until we can get a better understanding of Brandye's rehab.

Here's the update:
On July 20th 2008 Brandye and Nathan Conley were competing in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb when they were involved in a high speed accident when they left the road at a speed around 80 to 90 MPH and struck a 12'' diameter tree head on. The accident required them to be air lifted to the nearest hospital in Colorado Springs. After the CT scans were taken, the results showed they both suffered broken backs, with Brandye shattering her T12 Vertebrae and Nathan suffering a compressed and fractured T12and L1 Vertebrae.

Brandye was in need of more specialized care and was then air lifted to Saint Anthony's Hospital in Denver to undergo immediate surgery. The surgery required a cage to replace the shattered vertebrae as well as plates and screws to fuse the vertebrae. Fortunately Nathan required no surgery for his injuries but was transferred to Saint Anthony's so he could be along side Brandye for the recovery process.

As of yesterday 7/22, about four hours prior to his call. Nathan was released from the hospital and is able to walk on his own. He will need a back brace for approximately three months, but is expected to have a full recovery.

Brandye's surgery went without a flaw, she has now regained leg movement accompanied with minor leg numbness and swelling. She is able to stand with the support of others and her doctors are optimistic for a full recovery. At this time it is unknown how long Brandye will be at Saint Anthonys, but she is scheduled to be going to the Craigs Rehab Center in Denver, which is rated among the top 3 rehab centers in the nation.

Nathan and Brandye have greatly appreciated all the love and support of the rally and extended racing community. The tremendous amount of support that Nathan and Brandye have received has given them the encouragement they need to get back on their feet and be back within the racing community that has made their lives so enjoyable.

We will try to keep everyone up to speed on Brandye and Nates recovery process. In the meantime, please keep your prayers and support coming for Brandye and Nate to have a full recovery.
