Mads Ostberg’s Adapta Subaru World Rally Team will run two S14’s in 2009 WRC

Mads Østberg will be getting the latest available equipment from Prodrive next season. This article is by motorsport.no

Norwegian Mads Østberg will run one car, but it is still uncertain who is sitting in the other rally car.

We have had dialogue with Mads about the appropriate candidates in terms of the other car. Henning Solberg has been mentioned as a candidate. Henning is, of course, an interesting lead, and the combination of "up and coming", with Mads, and many years of experience, as Henning has, is an exciting idea. We must stress that it is in no way clarified who will be the second racer on the team, and in the relationship between the TOA and Henning has been the only non-binding dialogue so far.

The Adapta Team will participate in the championship for manufacturers as a so-called "Manufacturer 2 team" for Subaru, under the Prodrive "umbrella". This means that we're establishing an even more structured cooperation with Prodrive, and indirectly with Subaru, in that we "represent" the brand for Subaru.

We want to run full cooperation with the Subaru World Rally Team (SWRT) in transport, logistics and other spare parts. We will also service the cars together with Prodrive on all World Championship events, and we will have access to all Prodrive hospitality functions.

Our base and whereabouts between the events will continue to be in Canada, our mechanics will be employed by Bosch and we will even have the technical responsibility for the cars.

We have in some areas our own little responsibilities other than SWRT so far, among other things, when it comes to set-up in our cars. Many people think that this is merely has to do with that we are using other types of shock absorbers than SWRT.  It is not necessarily correct; differences in the overall layout of the dampers, which we specify and build into the dampers are at least as important. Within the technical framework described by the regulations, and provided access to material, we will continue to be completely free to continue with our own solutions.

We have ambitions that our drivers will practice a lot, both physically and with driving. More than is common for drivers in the same situation. We will keep the S12B for practice. Our drivers will definitely also participate in several national rallies.

As of today there are six teams competing as manufacturers'. Adapta will be the seventh, and we hope not to exclude others who may join.

Meanwhile, in other Subaru news Prodrive have created a damper dept, which is in its early stages and they have begun a recruitment for Damper Technicians, in an effort to finally resolve the issues.
