Austin MacHale debuted the MSD Opel Corsa Super 2000 as course car on last weekend's Cork 20 and pronounced himself happy with the machine.
The car was reckoned to be half a second/km slower than Niall McShea in the latest N14 Subaru, although no official times could be taken as Austin stopped on each stage at the mid-point radio. The car was expected to be homologated on October 1st and could make it's competitive debut on Wales Rally GB.
Gareth MacHale is expected to use the car starting in Galway 2009 and other ITC events as well as selected IRC rounds. There is reportedly much interest in the car in Ireland at the moment, with at least two drivers said to be considering using one in 2009.
