Omloop van Vlaanderen 2009: Results, Photos & Video Clips

Pieter Tsjoen won the 2009 Omloop van Vlaanderen to move into the lead of the Belgian Rally Championship, but he was lucky to do so.

Patrick Snijers had been leading the event in the Subaru Impreza WRC until he recieved a 70 second penalty for lateness, leaving Tsjoen to claim victory by 42 seconds in his Ford Focus WRC. Paul Lietaer claimed third spot in his elderly Subaru WRC.

Championship frontrunner Melissa Debackere was forced to retire her Corolla WRC with transmission failure, while Citroen Racing Trophy favourite Thierry Neuville crashed out. Matthias Boon secured the Belgian Fiesta SportTrophy championship despite having to finish under SupeRally.

It wasn't a good event for many of the British competitors as David Turnbull (Subaru Impreza WRC), Graham Coffey (Subaru Impreza WRC) and Steve Hendy (Ford Focus WRC) all retired from the event.
