Ojibwe Forest Rally 2008 Results: Travis Pastrana wins to edge closer to another Rally America title as Ken Block crashes on final stage

Travis Pastrana, co-driven by Derek Ringer, is virtually assured another Rally America title after winning the Ojibwe Forest Rally. Pastrana now only needs to finish in sixth place on one of the remaining two rounds to clinch the championship with his rivals, Ken Block and "ACP", needing to win both events. Pastrana was very lucky to win the event as Ken Block had dominated throughout and was 19s ahead going into the final stage.
A newcomer's first taste of rally with a great advert for Rally America:
Pastrana inherited a very fortunate win:
There was disappointment though for Ken Block and Alex Gelsomino in their Subaru Rally Team USA car as they crashed into a tree on the last stage. Both crew members were uninjured and are now on their way to Rally New Zealand, which takes place next weekend, to compete in the PWRC.
Pastrana shares his disappointment for Block's accident:
We were out-driven all day, and yesterday. It really sucks to see him on the side of the stage right at the end."
Kyle Sarasin took second despite suffering a host of mechanical problems (transmission and turbocharger) in his Subaru. Andrew Pinker was 3rd and had to battle from 11th o/a after hitting a rock on the first day in his Subaru WRX.
Block's rally ended with a crash into a tree on the final stage:
A narrow escape:
Dust:
A number of drivers had to miss the event due to damage sustained at the recent X Games. These included Andrew Comrie-Picard who flipped his Mitsubishi in spectacular fashion at the games, Tanner Foust, Pat Moro and Matthew Johnson.
Travis Pastrana commented to rally-america.com about the situation:
It's too bad for the championship to see so many guys had cars that couldn't be repaired in time to be here to compete."
Pastrana always gets the girl!

The next round of the Rally America series takes place on the 13-14th September for Rally Colorado.

I think you mean Dave Mira. Ken Block didn’t start the brooklyn stage in the Olympus rally 2009. His Turbo died before that stage.
