The Official Review of the 2009 MSA
British Rally Championship released on DVD

The 2009 MSA British Rally Championship delivered fast and furious drama over every mile of gravel and tarmac – and now you can share the excitement, and all the thrills and spills, of a gripping title battle. Duke is proud to announce the release of the Official DVD Review, featuring comprehensive coverage of all six rounds of the BRC season.
This is the complete story of the down-to-the-wire championship fight, with almost four hours of superb footage, including plenty from inside the cars, putting viewers in the hot seat for the thrilling title showdown. Interviews with the stars ensure fans get the full stories behind the special stage drama.

Three-times British Champion Mark Higgins started the season as favourite, but the veteran would face a strong challenge from a field full of young chargers. As the season got underway on the slippery stages of North Wales, it was Irishman Keith Cronin, with co-driver Greg Shinnors, who emerged as the greatest threat – taking his Mitsubishi Evo 9 to the narrowest of victories over the Subaru Impreza of Manxman Higgins and co-driver Bryan Thomas.
The legendary Kielder Forest was the venue for the Pirelli International, and another thrilling battle between the pair. Reigning Champion Guy Wilks made a one-off return in his S2000 Proton and looked like taking the win, until his hopes – as well as his car – went up in smoke. Cronin and Higgins continued their fight down to the last stage, going into those final miles split by just 2.5 seconds. Once again it was Cronin who took the win on the gravel.

The third round – the Jim Clark International – saw the action move to tarmac. Higgins took an early lead, which was extended when Cronin clipped a stone and broke his Evo. The Irishman battled back, helped by mechanical problems for Higgins, and with three stages to go the pair were separated by just 2.6 seconds. Higgins kept his nerve, and the lead, to take an important win before his home round in the Isle of Man. The narrow Manx roads produced one of the most thrilling rounds of the year, with the top two in the championship table both suffering problems.
The knife-edge fight just has to be seen to be believed. With two wins apiece, and the honours shared in the title chase, Higgins and Cronin headed to the Ulster International. A mistake by Cronin – caught by our incar camera – allowed Higgins to take a comfortable win, and let Alastair Fisher through to second as he continues the proud tradition of the great rallying family.

It all came down to the last rally of the year. Higgins swapped his N11 Subaru for the updated N14 in a determined bid to claim his fourth British title, but he struggled with the new car and spent all his time in Yorkshire trying to make up time on Cronin’s flying Mitsubishi. The Manxman ended up trying too hard, and saw his title hopes disappear in a huge, high-speed crash – again caught by our in-car cameras.
The Official DVD Review brings viewers the complete story of this incredible season, plus many more unforgettable moments, like Molly Taylor’s epic hedge-leaping antics in the Isle of Man.

Plus, there’s a complete in-car stage from the Ulster International courtesy of Higgins.
