Ugandan born internationally rallying co-driver Moses Matovu is relishing a return to the KCB Rwandan Mountain Gorilla Rally when he jets back to Africa fresh from a top ten Production Class result on last weekends WRC Rally Portugal. The popular co-driver switches from a Peter Horsey driven Mitsubishi Evo X to a Jas Mangat powered Subaru Impreza N12 for this weekends rally!
Matovu narrowly missed winning this event in 2009 when he and Peter Horsey were comfortably leading the rally until a last day puncture dropped the pair back to second overall. And after a strong run with Mangat in Tanzania earlier this season Matovu is confident of a solid result this weekend.
Although much of the route has changed since last year Jas is a quick driver and, with some of the experience I’ve learnt in the World Rally Championship recently, hopefully we can take the fight to the other African Championship drivers!
The KCB Rwandan Mountain Gorilla Rally is the fourth round of the 2010 FIA African Rally Championship and takes place from Friday 4th June to Sunday 6th June. Moses is currently lying fourth overall in the co-drivers championship with three rounds still to go.
