
At the annual ANICC dinner and 2009 prize presentation at the Seagoe Hotel in Portadown, over 400 people gathered to witness IRC champion Kris Meeke receive the Northern Ireland Motorsport Award.
To highlight the exceptional year 2009 was for Northern Ireland motorsport, five special achievement awards were also handed out to; Kris Meeke, Colin Turkington, Eugene Donnelly, Adam Carroll and Martin McCormack.
Other awards were presented to Robert McDaid (Clubman of the Year), Ronnie Trouton and Robin McKinney who both received Lifetime Achievement Awards.
On accepting his award, Kris Meeke commented that it was special to be honoured at home and then went on to say that to win in Sanremo and clinch the championship there was the highlight of his career so far. He also paid tribute to his co-driver Paul Nagle who was unable to attend the ceremony.
