Manfred Stohl in negotiations to drive for Van Merksteijn Motorsport in the 2009 WRC

According to rallye-magazine.de Manfred Stohl could partner Peter van Merksteijn jr in the Van Merksteijn Motorsport Manufacturer Team next year. Stohl was in discussions with the family owned team during Rally Catalunya.

Peter snr won't be contesting a full season next year in the WRC next year and Stohl would drive on the event's Peter snr elects not to contest. It is thought that Stohl would be good in the team with his abilities in car development and it is felt he would have great experience to pass onto Peter jr.
