Portuguese driver Bruno Magalhaes could compete on as many as five rounds of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this season. Magalhaes will contest the IRC events in Azores and Madeira, which also form part of his domestic championship schedule ...
He is also trying to add three additional IRC rallies to his programme in a Peugeot 207 Super 2000, which is supported by his country’s Peugeot importer.
“I want to do as many rallies as I can outside of Portugal,” said Magalhaes. “If possible I would like to go to the Asturias, Sanremo and Scotland rallies but it is all about getting the right amount of sponsorship because that is the big problem I have at the moment.”
Magalhaes impressed on two IRC appearances last season. He led Rally de Portugal until he went off the road and dropped three minutes. He was also leading in Madeira before he picked up a puncture.
“I showed some good speed last and I think if I could come back this year then maybe I can win some rallies in the IRC,” said Magalhaes, 28. “The Portuguese championship is very important to me, that is why Peugeot supports me, but I would like to do some IRC rallies as well.”
