M-Sport team director Malcolm Wilson has yet to decide on who will drive the Ford Fiesta S2000 on the IRC Monte Carlo Rally in January, but Mikko Hirvonen, Markko Martin and Matthew Wilson are all in the frame, according to Autosport magazine.
The Valence based event is expected to be the Fiesta's competitive debut, but Wilson says he won't be rushed into selecting a driver. A decision will be made following a December test, where Matthew Wilson and Markko Martin will drive the car.
"It could be Mikko, Matthew or Markko for the Monte," Wilson told Autosport. "At the moment, nothing is confirmed, but Monte Carlo is our target."
Matthew Wilson gave the Fiesta S2000 its first significant mileage on asphalt last week at a test in the South of France and Spain.
Meanwhile, Craig Breen has confirmed to Motorsport News that he plans to buy a Ford Fiesta S2000 from M-Sport, for an assault on next year's British Rally Championship.
The Irish driver is using the prize money (50,000 Euros) he won from the Billy Coleman Award to help fund his purchase of the machine. A programme of events in Ireland is also being planned alongside his BRC bid.
