Below is a video feature on Louise Aitken-Walker prior to the 1990 Commonwealth Bank Rally Australia.

1990 was the inaugural FIA Ladies Cup which Aitken-Walker (co-driven by Tina Thorner) won on the Sanremo Rally in the GM Euro Sport Vauxhall Astra GTE.

The season started off with a fantastic maximum score on the Monte Carlo Rally to win the Coupe des Dames for the second time on the event after winning it previously in 1983. Her main rival for the title that year was Paola de Martini driving a much more powerful Audi 90 quattro.

On the second round, though, in Portugal she suffered the most frightening accident of her career as the car plunged over a ravine and into a lake below. But that was the only major blip during her season as she went on to lift the title.
