Video clips from the Historic Rally Car Challenge which took place during the Loughgall Festival of Motorsport 2009.
The rally was won by Seamus O'Connell in his immaculate Mk2 Escort which is painted in the same livery as Ari Vatanen's MCD car of 1982. Second was Irish rally legend Dessie McCartney in his Porsche 911 Carrera RS and Tommy O'Connell finished third in an ex-works Escort RS1800.
Early pace-setter was Alan Jardine in an Escort Mk1 but he crashed out on SS2 while trying to consolidate his position. Jardine stated that this was his first accident in 38 years of competition.
Wesley Patterson won the modified category in his Mk2 Escort after leading all day. Toyota Starlet driver Jim McKenna tried to put the pressure on Patterson but crashed out heavily on stage 6 without injury to either of the crew.
One of the interesting demo cars was the ex-Henri Toivonen 1980 RAC Rally winning Talbot Sunbeam Lotus which was being driven by former NI Rally champion Stephen Mawhinney. There was also a Metro 6R4, 205 T16 E2 and an ex-Pond TR7 V8.
