Sébastien Loeb won the 21st Race Of Champions held at London’s Wembly Stadium.
The Frenchman beat former F1 driver David Coulthard to take the win at the 21st Race of Champions held at London’s Wembly Stadium. This adds to the tally of wins this year for Loeb, who last week won Wales Rally GB for the first time and he also picked up the World Rally Championship drivers title and Manufactures title for the Citroen Total World Rally Team. Loeb has also now won the Race of Champions three times.
Loeb vs Coulthard The Final
The ROC Nations Cup was won by Team Germany with f1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Michael Schumacher taking the win from Team Scandinavia drivers Mattias Ekstrom and Tom Kristensen. For the Rack Of Champions final Loeb and Coulthard raced into the RoC buggies and, although Coulthard ran Loeb much closer he squeezed home by 0.321s.
Speaking at the finish Loeb said:
It's a great pleasure to win this. Last year I couldn't come, so it's good to be back this year. I had a difficult start because I went off in the first race, but it was ok and I could come back.
Coulthard said he was happy with the runner-up spot to close his retirement season.
It's not too bad to be beaten by a five-time world rally champion. I'm just happy to have made the final with so many good drivers here
RoC highlights 2008
Earlier in the evening the race between f1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton and cycling gold medallist Chris Hoy, dubbed the "man v machine" race was cancelled because of safety fears.
Created in 1988 by IMP (International Media Productions) President Fredrik Johnsson and the world’s best female rally driver, Michele Mouton, the Race Of Champions remains the only opportunity for drivers to race in exactly the same cars and on a parallel track, using identical equipment and track, drivers can prove themselves based on their talent alone.
Sixteen drivers will competed in a series of knockout heats in their own division to determine their class champion. Then, in a shoot-out determined who would be the master of motorsport, the winners from the two divisions went head-to-head in a super final.

The WRC was supported by Gareth Machale representing Ireland who lost out on the first round to former f1 driver David Coulthard.. Mattias Ekstrom lost out in the second round to Andy Priaulx from BMW Team UK – FIA World Touring Cars Championship (WTCC) and the overall winner Sebastien Loeb.
