Newly crowned world rally champion Sebastien Loeb will test a Formula One car again, this time he will drive a Red Bull Racing RB4 machine at an official test at the Circuit de Catalunya on November 17th.
He has just claimed a record five world titles by finishing third on Rally Japan and has also managed to win these titles consecutively. Red Bull have given Loeb the F1 test as a present for winning this year's WRC.
Loeb will have the opportunity to have a preliminary test in the car at Silverstone and will meet the Red Bull Racing team at their headquaters in Milton Keynes to familiarise himself with the car and team.
Loeb is excited with his present from Red Bull:
I’m absolutely delighted by this present from Red Bull to celebrate my fifth World Rally Championship title. I already got the chance to test a Formula 1 car last year, but this time the circumstances will be a little different.
I’m now going to find myself in the midst of all the regular F1 drivers during an official test. I just hope that I don’t make a fool of myself! On the other hand, it’s only for one day. I’d like to clear up any speculation about me possibly switching to F1…next year I’m definitely going to be driving a Citroen C4 WRC on the World Rally Championship !"
Loeb drove an F1 Renault R27 last year at Paul Ricard and was said to adapt to the car very well, he also set times less than a second behind Heikki Kovalainen.
