Jari-Matti Latvala commences Ford WRT test in Germany ahead of the rally

Posted by Scott Coursey 5 August, 2008

Jari-Matti Latvala kicked off a four day test for the works team in Germany today ahead of Rallye Deutschland. Latvala will drive today and tomorrow then Hirvonen takes over for the last two days. Stobart will be in action on Saturday and Sunday, although it isn't confirmed who will be driving and on what days though it is believed Duval for Saturday and Galli Sunday. The customer cars will test on Monday.

Jari was downbeat after his Rally Finland performance and wants to put it behind him. Below he comments about Finland:

The rally didn't go as I expected unfortunately,” said Latvala. “And I didn't achieve what I wanted, which was a podium. I feel quite empty. It ended for me on Friday morning and that was all due to an error I made on the recce when I didn't mark a rock in my pace notes. At least I got my confidence, rhythm and speed back and drove the new stages which is good for the future. It was difficult to be motivated but the best medicine after an accident is to get back behind the wheel. I know the speed is there so I hope that next year I'll have the chance to fight for a win here."
