Latest news from the Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally 2008 and Markku Alen has been confirmed
According to the latest Alister McRae newsletter Markku Alen's name appears as a confirmed starter.

''Joining Alister and his father Jimmy at this September's McRae Stages in Perthshire will be four former WRC Champions.
Ari Vatanen with Co-driver David Richards, Stig Blomqvist, Hannu Mikkola and Bjorn Waldegard will compete in Round 8 of the Scottish Rally Championship in the forests surrounding Perth on 27th September as a tribute to there friend Colin.
Hannu will drive historic Mk2 Ford Escorts and Stig and Ari will be driving specially prepared new Escort RS1800's and Bjorn in a Porsche 911
Alister will also be driving a Mk2 Escort, which is currently being prepared. Jimmy will pilot a Porsche 911.
The rally is shaping up to be the best event of the year with other drivers who have confirmed that they will compete being, Malcolm Wilson, Russell Brookes, Markku Alen and Phil Collins Louise Aitken-Walker, Andrew Cowan. At the time of writing it is hopeful that double world champion, Carlos Sainz will be the course driver for the event. ''

EDIT: John Buffum has declared his intention to tackle the event in either a TR8 or a Porsche and may form a three car team with Pastrana and Block who have confirmed their interest, Block will hopefully be in a Mk2. All will be revealed after the X Games in two weeks time.

The 2008 Colin McRae Forest Stages Rally will take place on September 27th and once again be based in its Perthshire home.
The Rally HQ will be at Perth Racecourse as in the past few years. The Stages are all North of Perth and include some of the Famous and most spectacular stages - Drummond Hill, Erochty, Griffin, Fonab and Craigvinean. Central servicing is based in the town of Aberfeldy.
