Jan Kopecky completes Rally Russia 2008 shakedown

Jan Kopecky will definitely start Rally Russia as completed the shakedown stage today. It was only confirmed by today's appearance that he would start as was only speculated over the weekend due to a video showing him testing the Peugeot 207 S2000 in Finland. Team Kopecky felt it was unlikely he would be there following the Ypres accident but they have obviously pulled out all the stops to be in Russia.

Kopecky stated he loved Russia but has no knowledge of the stages as has never done the rally before. He said, though, the stages are similar to Finland so it should be interesting.

Sola was quickest in shakedown from Alen and Kopecky who were joint second. Kris Meeke was the fastest two wheel drive car ahead of Simon Jean-Joseph and Wilks. Meeke stated on his blog that he was happy enough but the rally is going to be about punctures and reliability.
