Ireland will enter a team on the Race of Champions for the first time at the event which takes place Sunday 14th December, according to autosport.com.

The team will consist of A1GP Team Ireland star Adam Carroll and Irish rally competitor Gareth MacHale.

Adam Carroll told autosport.com he was looking forward to the event:

I'm really looking forward to competing in the Race of Champions. It will be great fun and also really interesting to drive so many types of vehicles against such an impressive line-up of competitors.

It's a unique opportunity to perform in such a famous venue as the new Wembley Stadium and to give motorsport fans a lot of entertainment over the course of one day. From a driving point of view, I'm particularly looking forward to driving the World Rally Car and the buggies."

MacHale added:

I'm looking forward to representing my country and Irish rallying, and support for myself and Adam should be great as I know a large number of Irish motorsport fans travel to the event every year."
