Following on from the recent announcements regarding some radical changes to the 2010 MSA Gravel Rally Championship, a number of further incentives were announced at the annual ANCRO Gala Awards Dinner held in Daventry last weekend.
Eligible for any 1400cc car in Group N or Group A (classes 1 & 6), the £4000 Prize for 1400cc Cup will be awarded to the winning driver and will receive free entry to all rounds of the 2011 series, worth around £4,000. Other than the standard £5 registration fee for the 2010 MSA Gravel Rally Championship (free for co drivers), there are no other registration costs and a competitor's best five rounds from the six events will count. Drivers must start a minimum of two rounds to qualify and as well as there being no control tyre or control fuel, wherever possible, these classes will run at the front of the field.
Also aimed at encouraging resident Irish crews to come over to the UK, the Pattersons Pacenotes All-Ireland Challenge will anable crews to contest the 2010 MSA Gravel Rally Championship, as well as national pride, there is an added incentive of subsidised ferry costs up to £300 per car, depending on numbers at each event.
Subaru Cup and Mitsubishi Trophy has been setup to all registered competitors, who drive any make of Subaru or Mitsubishi (Group N, Group A or WRC) on each of the 2010 MSA Gravel Rally Championship events will score points independently, in line with standard championship scoring, and at the end of the season the winning drivers of each marque will receive their respective trophies and it is hoped that additional awards will be provided by the manufacturers also.
