No fewer than six Honda Civic Type Rs will be in action on RACMSA Rally of Scotland, making the Japanese car company favourite to secure second place in the IRC 2WD Cup Manufacturers’ standings.
Although Honda can’t better title-winner Peugeot’s score, it can get ahead of Abarth, which it trails by two points heading into the season finale. And with Honda the only make in action in Scotland, a change of positions is highly likely.
Estonian Honda driver Kaspar Koitla also has plenty to gain. He is currently equal fourth in the IRC 2WD Cup Drivers’ table but can climb to third if he scores two points or more in Scotland. Having scored a remarkable eighth place finish in Russia to net Honda’s first ever overall points in the IRC, Koitla will start as the Scottish event’s 12th seed.
Colin Smith is the only British driver in contention for IRC 2WD Cup honours. The Scot will also be at the wheel of a Honda Civic Type R.
