Help for Heroes motorsport memorabilia charity auction

A unique piece of UK motorsport memorabilia is to be auctioned for the Help for Heroes charity next month.

The only pre-production hardback version of Memory Lanes by Peter Robinson (ISBN 9780955807411) has now been signed by over 60 people who were active competitors and organisers in the Motoring News Championship between 1970 and 1973, the subject of this book. Signees include Russell Brookes, Barrie (Whizzo) Williams, Stuart Turner, Harold Morley, Will Sparrow, Don Barrow, John Brown, Randall Morgan, Chris Sclater, Tony Mason, David Sutton, Paul Faulkner, Martin Holmes, Nigel Rockey, Frank Pierson, Kevin Gormley, Fred Gallagher, Colin Francis, Roy Fidler and others representing a unique collection which has taken some eighteen months to put together. The successful bidder will also receive a production copy of Memory Lanes signed by the author.

In addition the author’s own collector’s copy of Dave Orrick’s Night Moves (ISBN 0948511559) will also be auctioned, again with a copy of Memory Lanes. Night Moves documents the Motoring News Championship( in particular the final year 1987), is long out of print and is much sort after by motor sport book enthusiasts.

ALL proceeds from these two items will go to the charity HELP FOR HEROES. This charity ( reg. No. 1120920) was formed in October 2007 specifically to help all those servicemen and women who have been injured in Britain’s current conflicts. Both of the above auctions will take place on EBAY commencing in early November and will run for one month. They will be placed in the Sports Memorabilia section under Motorsport books. A search on either of the book titles should quickly find the listed item ..
