Schutte Informatisering Hellendoorn Rally 2008 Final Results: Erik Wevers wins as van Eldik crashes out on Day 2

Erik Wevers, in his Ford Focus 06 WRC, took victory on the latest Euro Rally Challenge round, The Schutte Informatisering Hellendoorn Rally (otherwise known as The Golden Tulip Rally) 2008, after Mark van Eldik retired his Subaru S12b by crashing out on SS8.
Van Eldik had been the overnight leader by a scant 4s but his accident on SS8 left the way clear for Wevers to cruise to an easy victory and win by over 3mins for the third time on the event. Van Eldik's crash apparently destroyed the car and there are reports that he sustained some injuries.
Dennis Kuipers in an 06 Focus WRC grabbed second after Dirk Boers was forced to retire his Subaru S12 WRC with cooling problems. Rene Kuipers took third in his sister 06 Focus and Jasper van den Heuvel won Group N in fourth driving his Evo 9. Patrick Snijers was the top GT finisher in 5th with the 911 GT3 while Henk Vossen was 6th in his Evo 9.
Graham Coffey, lying 18th overnight, finished 7th overall driving a Subaru WRC. Paul Kirtley brought his Impreza WRC home in 13th.
