CARS Recovery Granite City Rally

New Title Sponsor to the Granite City Rally

The organisers of the Granite City Rally are delighted to welcome CARS Recovery as the title sponsor for the 2011 event, a fusion of two related activities perhaps!

Harry Patterson, the dynamic young entrepreneur, and owner of CARS Recovery has expanded the business to a point where he now is looking to give something back and support a local event.  Over the last three short years, since leaving Robert Gordon’s University with a Business degree, he has developed CARS Recovery from 8 trucks and 6 people to over 30 vehicles and 30 staff.

The 23 year old commented “I am very enthusiastic about cars in general, and saw the Granite City Rally as a good arena which is compatible with and a great showcase for our business while supporting an event which brings high speed action and exciting competition to entertain the public near Aberdeen.  The opportunity to see the cars at close quarters and experience a thrilling drive on the VIP day with our guests is what I’m also looking forward to.”

Gerry Potter, the experienced Clerk of the Course for the Granite City Rally added “We are very pleased to welcome on board our new title sponsors, CARS Recovery, and we look forward to a fruitful relationship with them. The "Granite" has always prided itself on giving the competitors the best days sport available and, thanks to our sponsors over the years, we have tried various innovations towards this end. In particular our decision, many years ago, to run the 'little' cars at the front has been very popular with young drivers and those just starting out in the sport as they have the chance to drive on relatively smooth roads. The support from CARS Recovery, and our stage sponsors, will enable us to keep the entry fees at a competitive level whilst maintaining our high standards.”

While CARS Recovery take the title role in the Granite City Rally, the event also welcomes John Lawrie Group, Whytes Cranes, Coltel, ARR Craibs Transport, Bruce McCombie Builders, and Cansco Greig as ancillary stage sponsors, and their invaluable contribution also ensure the smooth running of the event.

The event will take place on 16th April, starting from the Thistle Hotel in Altens, and contesting six action-packed stages around the Fetteresso & Durris forest complex, with the first cars returning to the hotel around mid-afternoon.  Although contested as a one-day event, it is also the third round of an eight round MSA Scottish Rally Championship, with the competitors coming from every corner of Scotland to enjoy the thrill of the classic stages in the north east of Scotland.
