
Mayes Motorsport announces support for inaugural Junior Rally Championship
Mayes Motorsport, in conjunction with the Formula 1000 Club has announced its support for Britain’s only rally championship for 14-16 year olds.
The company, run by experienced competitor Geraint Mayes becomes the fourth major backer for the inaugural championship, joining Kick Energy, Acceleration TV and rallyschool.co.uk To date, the championship has seen thirteen junior competitors’ tackle three challenging venues across the UK, in a bid to become Britain’s youngest ever rally champion;
“We are extremely proud to be able to back a championship like the Junior 1000 Rally Championship; a series which could unearth Britain’s next World Rally Champion” commented Geraint, “As we have seen already this year, the championship is beginning to unearth talented teenagers whilst giving them the more cost effective footing on the ladder to rallying success. This can only be a positive reflection on Rallying, whilst giving the sport itself a brighter future”
The addition of Mayes Motorsport to the Junior 1000 Championship is imminent with all registered competitors being required to carry the company door squares on their cars as of the next round of the championship, the Peter Lloyd Stages in October;
“Having Mayes Motorsport come onboard is another fantastic addition to the championship” commented Formula 1000 Club Chairman Tristan Dodd, the man behind Britain’s only Junior Rally Championship, “The championship itself is going from strength to strength this year and can only get better still, we welcome Mayes Motorsport, Geraint and his son Scott to the championship and we look ahead to the second half of the season in great spirits.”
As mentioned above, Geraint’s son Scott is one of up to six newcomers who will be making their rallying debuts at the next round of the championship, the Peter Lloyd Stages at the Pembrey Race Circuit on October the 4th.
The addition of Mayes Motorsport to the Junior 1000 backers will not see a name change to the championship which will retain its title of the Kick Energy Acceleration TV Formula 1000 Junior Championship.
