Russian star Evgeny Novikov has decided to use a Subaru N12 in Rally Russia which starts tomorrow. Novikov had the choice between it and a N14 but after some extensive testing in Estonia the team has decided to use the N12. He had been very critical of the N14 this year during the Russian championship and the PWRC.
Nearly all the N14's have suffered numerous problems on the PWRC since the car's PWRC debut in Sweden, Prodrive have been trying to address the issues. The main area of concern has been the cooling but there have been other fundamental design issues, such as the suspension and Novikov has been critical of the car publicly. He used an Evo9 on his last appearance on the PWRC Rally Turkey.
Novikov will also have a new co-driver for the event, Dale Moscatt from Australia will be on the notes. The rally begins tomorrow with a Ceromonial Start in St Petersberg, with the event being based in the historic city of Vyborg which used to belong to Finland until 1944.
Novikov will revert to a N12 for Rally Russia
