HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, visits Prodrive, home of the Subaru World Rally Team

HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, visited Prodrive today as part of a royal visit by himself and the Queen to Banbury in the UK.
The Duke was shown around Prodrive’s motorsport headquarters by chairman, David Richards where he saw the Subaru World Rally Team’s final preparations for Wales Rally GB which takes place in December and the latest Aston Martin racing cars being built.
Subaru World Rally Team driver, Petter Solberg, took a break from testing in Wales before next week’s rally to meet the Duke, while Le Mans winning-driver, Darren Turner, and the Aston Martin Racing team performed a pit stop on the Aston Martin DBR9.

As a memento of the visit, David Richards presented the Duke with a unique shooting seat fabricated by Prodrive from carbon fibre. The Duke was also given a pair of Prodrive-manufactured carbon fibre horse racing stirrups as a gift for the Queen.
