Krum Donchev wins Rally Bulgaria 2008 the latest round of the European Rally Championship

Krum Donchev, driving a Peugeot 207 S2000, won the latest round of the European Championship Rally Bulgaria. Volkan Isik finished second in his Punto while there was a last stage shoot-out for third. Fontana and Solowow were separated by 5s going into the final stage with Solowow coming through to claim third ahead of Fontana. Donchev took the lead on SS2 and was never headed after that.

Early pace setter Jensen Popov had turbo problems on SS6 and ended up 8th. Luca Betti had to start the rally in an Evo9 as his regular 207 was severely damaged in a big crash the previous weekend by Guillaume Canevinq on the Rallye du Rouergue. Betti was plagued by niggly problems all weekend and finished 12th

S2000's filled the top four places in a rally which is set to be included in the WRC calendar in 2010. Donchev becomes only the third Bulgarian to win his home rally.
