Could Lancia return to WRC with Delta in 2009/10

Speculation is mounting about a possible return to WRC by Lancia. The new Delta, based on the Fiat Bravo platform, will go on sale in Europe June 08 and it is expected that a sports version could superseed the Punto Abarth, prompting a possible WRC return. Apparently a source from Lancia, fuelled the rumour yesterday by stating that Lancia were interested in returning and were working on a car, so could be back in late 2009 but more likely 2010 as need to source a backer. The cars dimensions though are a little odd for it to be competitve as is 4.5m long, 1.5m high and 1.8m wide.
Might make commercial sense for Fiat to bring back the Lancia marque into topline rallying and perhaps also with Anton Alen in the team.
What a HF Delta might look like
