‘’All in a week’s work’’

The Junior Rally team of Colin R Smith and Craig Chapman have gathered a huge collection of silverware over the last two weekends. The first batch of prizes was won on last weekend’s inaugural Rally of Scotland which took place throughout Perthshire and Stirling throughout gruelling conditions. Colin and Craig emerged at the end of the 3 day event, 13th overall, 2nd in the IRC 2wheel drive standings and 2nd in class, a fantastic result on the Junior crews International debut. Colin and Craig also helped Honda to lift 2nd place in the overall IRC 2 wheel drive Championship.

On Saturday evening, Colin and Craig attended the Hankook Scottish Rally Championship dinner held in the Marriot hotel in Glasgow. The venue was packed full of Champions past and present for a fun filled evening of silverware. Colin and Craig walked away from the evening with a further 7 trophies from their achievements this season.

The list of achievements is as follows;

Second Place in the Scottish Junior Championship.

Second Place in the 1.6 Scottish Rally Championship.

Second Place in the 1.6 Co-Driver category, Scottish Rally Championship.

Second overall in the Brick and Steel Ecosse 205 Challenge.

Second in the Hankook Junior Brick and Steel Ecosse 205 Challenge.

Second 1.6 Driver in the Brick and Steel 205 Ecosse Challenge.

Third overall Co-Driver in the Brick and Steel 205 Ecosse Challenge.

Not to mention Second place Driver and Second Place Co-Driver in the IRC 2 wheel Drive Cup on the RACMSA Rally of Scotland!!

The list of achievements only tells half the story of Colin and Craig’s season to date. Having only competed in 6 of the 8 rounds of the Scottish Rally Championship, the Junior crew only missed out on the Scottish titles by 2 points. In the Brick and Steel Ecosse 205 Challenge the Aberdeenshire pairing would have won all the titles had it not been for a technical infringement on the team’s victory on the Speyside Rally.

Olmeldrum Project Engineer Smith (22) commented ‘’ This season has been our best yet, we came so close to wrapping up all the titles and we are determined to go out in 2010 and consolidate our performances into more successes’’
