Colin McRae tribute for Goodwood Festival of Speed 2008 this weekend
Goodwood will pay tribute to Colin McRae this weekend by displaying cars he used throughout his career.
On display in the Forest rally stage service area will be everything from his early machines, such as the Talbot Sunbeam Lotus and Vauxhall Nova in which McRae began his career, through to the World Championship winning Subaru Impreza WRC and Nissan 'Rally Raid' pick-up that provided him with one of his last competitive drives.
"It is terribly sad that Britain's first World Rally Champion, Colin McRae, will no longer be in action with us," said The Earl of March, "but we intend to remember his extraordinary career, and its impact on the sport worldwide, with the fabulous display in his
honour.
"He is sadly missed by everyone who loves motor sport."
Many of the cars with which the driver is most closely associated will also be in action on the stage throughout the weekend.
It is hoped the display will also feature non-rally cars, such as the Ferrari he drove at Le Mans and the Jordon F1 car he tested at Silverstone.
