
Spanish driver Joan Vinyes took a dominant win in the second round of the Clio R3 West European Trophy on the Rally de Ourense in Spain, which took place June 19-21.
Round one winner Kris Princen finished second with Frenchman Eric Mauffrey third after a rally long battle. The rapid Belgian, Princen, leads the Trophy standings after two rounds by 7 points from Mauffrey, Vinyes is currently in third position.
Spaniard Miguel Arias finished fourth in his Renault Clio Sport R3, though he had been in second place during the first leg. Another Spaniard, Fran Cima, took fifth R3 Trophy spot to finish ahead of Dutchman Jan de Winkel.
Irish competitor Tommy Doyle retired after the first loop of stages, on the opening leg, due to brake problems with his Clio.
The series now heads to the narrow, bumpy lanes of the ToddsLeap.com Ulster Rally at the end of August for round 3.
