Citroen boss Olivier Quesnel would like to see the WRC adopt a winter calendar so that the team could debut its S2000 World Rally Car ahead of schedule, according to the UK newspaper Motorsport News.
Quesnel stated that the team would be unable to debut the car at the begininng of the 2010 series due to the delays in signing off the final technical regulations, meaning the car will not be competing until 2011 at the earliest.
But he is confident a car could be ready by August 2010 when the mooted winter calendar could come into effect.
Quesnel commented to MN:
I'm not sure how good is the idea of the winter series, but what I am sure of is that we have to stop this story.
Another year of no decisions will be too much so the quicker we stop this the better it is. But what I am sure of is it's impossible for Citroen and Ford to be ready with the new car for January next year.
By working hard we could be ready in August 2010 for the winter series.
