Keith Cronin, the newly-crowned British Rally Champion will be in action at the London Motor Sport Show this coming weekend (Sunday 22 November 2009), driving the Mitsubishi Evo 9 which took him to the 2009 title.
23-year-old Cronin, from Bantry, County Cork, won the 2008 Billy Coleman Young Driver of the Year Award, and within only one season he has rewarded the panel of judges, his sponsors, his team, and his many fans with a season of spectacular driving and success.
He also bridged a 35-year-gap to 1974, when fellow Corkman Billy Coleman became the first Irishman to win the British Rally Championship.
On Sunday at Brands Hatch, Keith will demonstrate at first hand, especially to those who were unable to travel to the rallies, his natural talent and car control. It is an event which must not be missed.
Keith will be in Scotland this week, competing in Rally Scotland for the first time. This is the final round of the 2009 FIA Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Keith has his own website at http://www.croninmotorsport.com, a venue which can
keep any motorsport fan entertained for hours. This weekend will see the UK launch of the popular Keith Cronin Supporters' Club, which supporters can join on a yearly membership basis.
There will be a draw for new members who join up on the day and the lucky ones will get the opportunity to sit with Keith during the demo runs on the day.
The Supporters' Club hold an end-of-year "Super Draw". The top prize winner gets to co-drive with Keith on a rally during the year. Just last weekend, Derry O'Brien from Bantry, Co. Cork, co-drove for Keith on the Kerry Mini Stages Rally.
All members are kept informed by the official text messaging service, reporting the team's progress on events in which they compete. This is a first in rallysport.
Keith's Mitsubishi won't be the only rally car in action over the weekend. You will also see Mk2 Escorts, a G3 Escort Cosworth, a Talbot Sunbeam Lotus, an Opel Manta 400, a Peugeot 205 Maxi, a Darrian T90 and cars from the Group B era. There will be at least ten high-performance rally cars in action on both Saturday and Sunday.
Tickets can be obtained from http://www.racecarlive.com.
