BookaTrack.com Ltd is delighted to confirm that an agreement has been reached with Caterham Cars Ltd which sees the retirement of the much-loved Rover K-Series Superlights at the end of 2010. The cars will all be replaced with the latest model, the more powerful and more reliable Ford Duratec powered Superlight R300’s.
BookaTrack’s co-founder, Jonny Leroux, had this to say of the deal:-
“Ever since we first drove the new R300 in 2008, we knew this was the direction we wanted to take with the business. The R300 combines all the poise and handling finesse associated with the original Superlight with the awesome power and longevity of the Caterham-tuned 2 litre Duratec engine.”
The 2011 BaT CaT fleet will comprise of 4 x Superlight R300 race-eligible cars(complete with full race cage) and 2 of the larger Superlight R300 ‘SV’ cars – built to exactly the same specification but fitted with standard trackday roll bars - for driver convenience.
Delivery of the new kits is expected in January 2011 and as with all of the BookaTrack rental cars, long-term partner Fauldsport Ltd will be building and preparing the cars to their usual exacting standards.
Stuart Faulds, owner and chief mechanic at Fauldsport Ltd, commented:-
“The original BookaTrack superlights have been hard-working and extremely popular but Caterham’s launch of the new Duratec R300 back in 2008 raised the benchmark both in terms of performance and durability. We began campaigning for the fleet to be replaced very early on so it’s great to finally see BookaTrack upgrading the cars – it’s a decision that will benefit everyone involved.”
Although the full 2011 calendar is yet to be finalised, bookings for the new cars are being taken now for track days from March 2011 onwards.
