Andreas Mikkelsen’s new Ford Focus WRC 07 pics as Ramsport consider becoming a MT in the 2009 WRC

The first pics (from norsk-rally.com) have emerged of Mikkelsen's new 07 Focus, he will debut in Germany, resplendent in the livery of energy drink firm Mad Croc.

In Motorsport News this week, Ramsport boss, Rob Atkinson stated that there are plans to have a second driver in the squad to contest eight events next year as a Manufacturer Team. Henning Solberg and Matti Rantanen are both under consideration. Atkinson also added that he "couldn't rule out" working with another manufacturer but also said that Andreas "felt comfortable" in the Focus. Mikkelsen will test a C4 in Spain during September to weigh up the team's possible options for next year.

Atkinson explaines to Motorsport News the team's target for next year:

It's our firm aim for next year. Andreas and his people have looked at other options but they've made it quite clear this (Ramsport) is their preference. We're speaking to a couple of candidates about the second seat and there's a chance Andreas will do all twelve rounds if there's funding and a second driver available to do that."

Meanwhile, the Ford Focus 08 WRC will break cover fully in Germany. The car did debut in Finland but was unable to use the new engine mods (including new camshafts and turbo charger) and has had to wait until Germany re: engine change ruling on twin rallies. There a very little external differences to the car except for a new headlamp design in line with the current production model.
