Abarth are seriously considering a return to the WRC according to MN. Abarth's racing operations director Nicola Gullino stated that the recent WMSC decisions regarding the new technical regulations and the appointment of a global promoter could be influential in them returning.
Gullino also added that once the details of the technical regulations are available then an application to the board would be made. It is not known how soon Abarth may enter the WRC but the new regs should be available to the teams this week. It is understood that Peugeot are unlikely to return to the WRC in the near future according to a spokesperson.

I would love to see the Grande Punto Abarth hurtling around a rally course. Hopefully the board will approve the application. It’s about time we saw a return of manufacturers to the WRC.
